MANILA, Philippines – The low pressure area (LPA) located east of southern Luzon has intensified and is now a tropical depression, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the tropical depression named “Lawin” was spotted 910 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
PAGASA said the weather disturbance is still too far to affect any part of the country.
No storm warning signals have been raised, so far.
Lawin was seen packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and was expected to move west at a speed of 7 kph.
