QUEZON PROVINCE – Two people died in a vehicular accident in Candelaria, Quezon on Monday evening.

A motorcycle, carrying victims Augusto Valdez and Corazon Pacia, was crossing the intersection of a road in Barangay Malabanan Sur when it was rammed by a bus at 7:15 p.m.

Valdez, a 46-year-old barangay watchman, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Pacia, on the other hand, died on the spot.

Both sustained severe head and body injuries.

The bus driver, identified as Edmundo Serrano of Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, voluntarily surrendered to the Quezon Provincial Public Management and Safety Company after the incident.

The site of the crash is part of the bypass road inaugurated on Monday morning by President Benigno Aquino III, incoming Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson.

The 7.5-kilometer road, which begins at Barangay Bukal and ends in Barangay Mangilag Sur, is part of the Pan-Philippine Highway.
