RoRo vessel incurs electrical failure

MANILA, Philippines – A roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessel from Cebu experienced electrical failure on its way to Bato, Leyte early Sunday morning.

According to a report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the Ro-Ro vessel named “MV Lady of the Angel” of Medallion Shipping experienced power failure around 12:05 a.m. Sunday.

The vessel departed the Cebu port around 9 a.m.

One of the passengers, Jane Araneta, was able to contact the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 8, and the Philippine Coast Guard in Eastern Visayas was able to respond.

After around 30 minutes, power supply was restored and the vessel continued on its way to Leyte.

According to OCD Region 8 director Rey Gozon, MV Lady of the Angel docked at the pier in Bato, Leyte around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

None of the crew or the passengers were reported injured in the incident. – Report from DZMM.
