Fisherman drowns in S. Leyte

MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon “Karen” has left one person dead, according to a report by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The victim was identified as 70-year-old fisherman Juan Cabales, a resident of Barangay Bugo, Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte.

NDRRMC said Cabales went missing after setting sail at around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

His body was found off the coast of Libangon, Southern Leyte two days later.

Meanwhile, 10 domestic flights of Cebu Pacific and Zest Air were cancelled due to the typhoon.

These flights were supposed to be headed to and from Caticlan, Busuanga, and San Jose. -- With a report from Zandro Ochona, dzMM
