MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – The bodies of 2 teenagers who drowned in a waterfall in Subic in Bataan on Wednesday have been recovered.

The victims were identified as 14-year-old Jae Hak Jun and 13-year-old Kyle David Gullas Weckman, a grandson of former Cebu Congressman Dodong Gullas.

The victims were part of a group of students from Cebu International School who went to Sitio Canauan for an outreach program.

The students went swimming after lunch and 4 of them went missing after a few hours.

Two of the students were rescued while 2 others drowned.

The body of Jun was recovered at around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday while body of Weckman was recovered 8 a.m. on Thursday.

The senior vice president of the Korean community in the country, Lee Jong Sub, has confirmed that the parents of Jun arrived in Manila on Thursday.

Lee said the parents are emotional and are unable to speak or face the teachers of their child out of anger.

According to Lee, students of the Cebu International School go on a field trip to Subic every year.

Based on initial information that they gathered from his classmates, one of the victims swam to the restricted portion of the falls that they visited and encountered a strong undercurrent.

The parents of Jun want an investigation and are holding the teachers responsible for the incident.

Many of the victims’ classmates are still in shock about the incident.

The Gullas family released a statement on Thursday, announcing the student’s death.

“We ask to be indulged some private moments to deal with our grief. Any further announcements will be made when details permit. For the moment this is all we can share to the public. Thank you for your kind understanding. And to those who helped us deal with the situation, our deepest and sincerest gratitude,” the statement said. -- Reports from Jayvie Dizon, ABS-CBN News Pampanga; Ron Gagalac and Zen Hernandez, ABS-CBN News
