Barangay chairman gunned down in Roxas City
ROXAS CITY, Philippines – Residents near Bambooland Restaurant in Kilometer 1, Roxas City were alarmed after hearing several gunshots at around 6:50 a.m. on Sunday.
Barangay Captain Wilson Tianchon, who was sitting in the cashier booth of the restaurant which he owns, was shot dead by suspects believed to be riding in tandem.
The victim suffered five gunshots wounds in his chest.
Police said one of the suspects pretended as a customer and ordered a cup of coffee. After drinking the coffee, he immediately pulled his gun towards the victim and fled in a motorcycle.
Gabriel Fillone, an employee in the restaurant, was shocked after seeing his boss lying in the ground.
Marina Tianchon-Cruz, the sister of the victim, grieved for his brother's death.
She cannot believed that this will happen, saying that her brother was a good man.
The Roxas City police are investigating the identity of the two suspects but they still have no idea as to who is the mastermind.
Police Superintendent Salvador Dagoon confirmed that Tianchon, who is allegedly a close supporter of Liberal Party officials in Capiz, has received death threats prior to his death.
Aside from personal motive, police are also looking at politics as motive of the incident.
