CEBU CITY - A lot was expected from Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM) magna cum laude graduate Raymund Martin Li and cum laude graduate Debbie Rose Tanengsy when they took the physician licensure exam last August. After all, they were the top two students in their class.
On Thursday afternoon, they were both ecstatic to know that they lived up to the people's expectations.
Li ranked first in the medical board exam with a rating of 89.58 while Tanengsy ranked fifth with a rating of 89.17.
The CIM also got a 100 percent passing rating.
Li admitted that he only aimed to pass the exam, noting that he had difficulty answering the items in the surgical and pediatric courses. For him, landing at the top spot was just a bonus, he said.
"I only followed the modules on what to study. I make it a point to study every subject and to make sure I did not miss any of it," Li said.
He added that if not because of the intensive training provided by his school, he would not be where he is right now.
Meanwhile, the dean of CIM said they prepared a lot for this year's board exam. They even had small group discussions for the students to help them understand all courses and cases.
Since 2008, CIM has been able to produce topnotchers in the physician licensure exam.
