The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake hit at around 9:43pm near Jomalig Island.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, was a shallow tremor and was thus felt more strongly.

Meanwhile, intensity 2 was felt in Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Tanza, Cavite; and Makati City.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
