MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) condemned the grenade explosion in Davao City on Saturday night, which left 37 people injured.
The victims were watching a circus show when the grenade exploded in the covered court in Barangay Fatima in the Paquibato district, according to initial investigations.
CHR Regional Director Atty. Alberto Sipaco Jr. said the incident is really alarming because it violates human rights.
Sipaco is appealing to the public to work hand in hand with the authorities so the people behind the heinous blast may be held liable.
Sipaco said the CHR will also conduct its own probe on the incident.
Prior to this, Colonel Lysander Suerte of the 103rd Infantry Brigade of the 10th Infantry Division said the Philippine National Police and the military have already joined forces to investigate the explosion. – from a report by Henry Atuelan, dzMM
