Teen drowns in Cebu river
MANILA – A teenager drowned in a river in Cebu City on Thursday.
Roen Avillaneda, 16, was swimming in Guadalupe River in Sawang Calero with his five friends when he was swept by the raging water. His friends survived.
Avillaneda's remains were later found near the coast of Pasil village.
The drowning incident occurred amid strong rains in parts of Visayas and Mindano on Thursday.
Parts of Cebu City were hit by floods, leaving commuters stranded and causing traffic jam. – report from June Perez, dzMM
