MANILA – Inmates at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center took the ice bucket challenge to show their support to patients of ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

About 20 CPDRC inmates took the challenge live on ABS-CBN Cebu's local morning show ''Maayong Buntag Kapamilya."

CPDRC consultant Marco Torral also accepted the challenge.

The inmates nominated Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III, ABS-CBN Cebu host Reena Elena, and ABS-CBN reporter Junrey Nadela to also do the same.

The ALS ice bucket challenge has gone viral in the last few weeks. Anyone nominated to do the ice bucket challenge has to do it within 24 hours or donate to the ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) Association.

The ALS Association has raised over $70 million since July 29, as the ice bucket challenge has been taken up by celebrities, political and business figures all over the world.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells and pathways in the brain and spinal cord, which eventually leads to paralysis.
