LAGUNA, Philippines - Due to intense jealousy, a jeepney driver shot dead 2 young men and wounded a teenager before he shoot himself dead in San Pablo City, Laguna on Wednesday evening, police said.
Superintendent Ferdinand de Castro, San Pablo police chief, identified the gunman as Ariel Almare, a resident of Barangay San Antonio 1 in the city.
He killed John Cosner Detaunan, 23, and Jesus Sumadsad, 24, residents of Gateway Purok 1, Barangay San Antonio 1.
Johanes Detaunan, 18, was injured. He was brought to the San Pablo Medical Center for gunshot wounds.
According to police, the victims were playing computer games near their home when Almare, armed with a caliber .38 pistol, shot the victims around 11:10 p.m.
John and Jesus died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds while Johanes survived.
After shooting the victims, Almare allegedly shot himself in the head and was found dead in a grassy portion of the said barangay, just a few meters away from the crime scene.
His gun was found beside his body, police said.
Probers said Almare apparently discovered that his former wife had an alleged affair with Johanes, prompting him to run amok and subsequently kill himself.
