MANILA, Philippines - A teenage boy with a mental disability was found dead in Batangas on Wednesday.

Fourteen-year-old Manuel Anacan Jr., who went missing on Sunday, was found dead inside a culvert in Barangay IV in Santo Tomas town.

Anacan's body indicated signs of torture. He was hacked several times, his fingers were cut, and his lips were also sewn together.

The victim's family admitted that he had been involved in several troubles due to his mental illness, but said killing him is never justifiable.

Police have launched an investigation to determine Anacan's killers. – report from Carolyn Bonquin, ABS-CBN News Southern Luzon
