MANILA, Philippines – The entire Naga City has been placed on red alert as important government officials are expected to visit the wake of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo in the coming days.

SPO2 Randy Solano, spokesperson of Naga City Police, said the city government has already instructed them to be on alert with the expected arrival of VIPs.

President Benigno Aquino III, accompanied by several Cabinet officials, arrived earlier in the city to personally bring Robredo's remains to his family.

Security is tight at the Funeraria Imperial where Robredo's body is being prepared for his wake.

"Mahigpit ang security dahil nandito presidente, sa ngayon halos lahat ng kapulisan dito ay naka-alert at lahat ng kanto ay mayroong personahe," Solano told dzMM.

Solano said the city police director has already made a request to other local government units for a reinforcement to the city's police force. He said the city has at least 300 policemen.

Members of the police have also pinned black ribbons on their uniforms as a sign of their mourning. – with a report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
