Drug suspect killed in Bohol shootout

MANILA - A suspected big-time drug pusher in Bohol province was killed in a shootout with police authorities in Barangay Poblacion, Ubay, Bohol before dawn on Friday.

Cebu police identified the suspect as Romulo Escalante Caño, alias Inday.

Armed with a .45-caliber pistol, Caño engaged police in a firefight after they launched joint operations against him at around 2:40 a.m. by virtue of a search warrant for drugs and firearms.

Caño was shot in the chest and was declared dead on arrival at Don Emilio Del Valle Memorial Hospital.

A .45-caliber pistol, three KG-9 submachine pistols, and several packs of shabu were found in the suspect's possession.
