MANILA, Philippines – A fire razed a big part of City Central Elementary School in Veles Street, Cagayan de Oro City past midnight on Sunday, which destroyed over 30 classrooms and 14 offices.
Carmen Fire Station said the fire started in a grade 6 classroom but they have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
Authorities are estimating the cost of damage at over P3 million.
Because of the fire, school principal Porferio Padinit Jr. declared the suspension of grades 5 and 6 classes on Monday. He also suspended three grade 3 classes.
On Tuesday, Padinit said they will implement shiting of classes so the students whose classrooms were affected would still be able to go to school. – from a report by Joel Ramirez, ABS-CBN News Davao
