MANILA, Philippines – The local governments of Batangas and Nueva Ecija have suspended classes in the provinces due to continuous rains.
The Department of Education (DepEd), in its Twitter account, said governors Aurelio Umali of Nueva Ecija and Vilma Santos-Recto of Batangas have ordered the suspension of classes.
“The Governors of Nueva Ecija and Batangas have also suspended classes today, Aug 7, province wide,” the DepEd said.
Malacañang earlier ordered the suspension of college classes and work in government offices in Metro Manila and other areas Tuesday because of heavy rains and floods.
The other areas covered by Memorandum Circular No. 33, series of 2012 that was signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr. are Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal.
