MANILA – An explosion hit a facility of Globe Telecoms in Ballesteros, Cagayan on Monday evening, police said.

Cagayan Police said about 30 men tried to barge into Globe's landing station by using an explosive to open its gate at around 10 p.m.

However, the suspects, who claimed to be members of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), were met by armed security guards and policemen who were patrolling the area at that time.

Additional policemen arrived to reinforce the law enforcers.

The suspects, outnumbered and unable to force their way into the facility, fled the scene on board a jeep and dump truck.

After the clash, police also found a grenade lobbed at a nearby manhole.

Police recovered spent shells from M16 and M14 rifles, and two bags containing improvised explosive devices.
