COTABATO CITY – The Archdiocese of Cotabato held a mass Saturday afternoon at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral in Cotabato City to strongly oppose the passage of the Reproductive Health (RH) bill.
The mass was presided by Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo.
In his homily, Bagaforo said the RH bill will destroy the moral values of family.
The Catholic church strongly opposes the use of artificial birth control methods such as condoms and other contraceptives.
Bagaforo believes that prayer is the most powerful way to enlighten the lawmakers so that Congress will not pass the RH bill that will "divide the Filipino people once again."
If RH bill will be passed, Bagaforo said it might result to civil disobedience.
The mass held on Saturday was the first of three masses that will be sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cotabato City until Monday.
Vigil and other church-related activities will also be held until Monday to strongly oppose the controversial measure.
