MANILA, Philippines – With the country still reeling from the effects of tropical cyclone “Gener,” another weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday.

The state weather bureau said a low pressure area (LPA) was last spotted 1,400 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

The LPA is still over the Pacific Ocean, which means it is still gathering strength.

However, it is unlikely to make landfall.

PAGASA earlier said the LPA will be named “Helen” once it enters the PAR.

Meanwhile, rains are still expected over Luzon and Western Visayas due to the southwest monsoon.

In Metro Manila, rains may prevail until next week but weather is expected to improve beginning Thursday next week.

Luzon will also experience downpour particularly in the Ilocos provinces, Pangasinan, Zambales and Pampanga.

The whole Visayas will experience cloudy skies and scattered rains. -- With a report from ANC
