MANILA, Philippines – Lalaine Malaya, the alleged "drug queen" of Misamis Oriental, was arrested after a joint operation by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro.
Short fire arms, an improvised pistol, bullets, 25 grams of shabu, cash, and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from Malaya, who denied allegations against her.
According to the CIDG, however, Malaya has been under surveillance for three weeks due to possession of firearms. The police were surprised to see the group repacking drugs during a pot session.
Nine other persons who tried to make a run for it during the bust were also arrested.
Barangay officials said they are happy to see Malaya arrested as they have long complained about her as well as about the others who were arrested.
The nine suspects will be charged will illegal possession of prohibited drugs, while Malaya will also be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and maintaining a drug den. -- Report by Shiela Joy Labrador, ABS-CBN News Northern Mindanao.
