MANILA, Philippines – A woman and her daughter drowned at the height of heavy rains on Sunday in Camarines Sur, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
Ludiche Remudes, 35, and her daughter, Jessa Mae, 8, drowned while crossing Bugsukan River in Sitio Oras, Barangay Naayugan, Buhi town at around 8 a.m.
Their bodies were recovered three hours later.
At least 10 households in Bombon town, Camarines Sur were affected after a creek connected to Inarihan river overflowed, the NDRRMC added.
In Bulacan, 36 barangays in Meycauayan City, Malolos City, Obando, Marilao, Calumpit, Pulilan and Guiguinto were submerged in flood waters as high as four feet.
In Barangay Tibag, Pulilan, Bulacan, 109 people fled their homes due to flooding.
Menawhile, some 350 residents in Paluan, Occidental Mindoro were also displaced as knee to waist-deep floods submerged five of the town’s barangays due to continuous rains until Monday evening.
The NDRRMC also estimated the cost of damage to structures, agriculture, livestock and fisheries in Occidental Mindoro at P5.98 million.
It said the following infrastructures in the Occidental Mindoro town of Abra de Ilog were damaged:
National road from Abra de Ilog to Puerto Galera;
Talusungan Bridge at Talusungan National Road along Brgy. Balao;
Concrete bridge located at Kuli-kuli;
Spillway located at Sikat FMR; and
RC Box Culvert located at Lanas, Cabacao
A power outage was also experienced in Abra de Ilog from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 p.m. Monday.
All roads and bridges in the entire region IV-B (MIMAROPA or Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) were passable as of 6 p.m. Monday.
