MANILA, Philippines – A man who drowned in Cainta, Rizal at the height of the onslaught of tropical depression “Ferdie” has been found Monday, authorities said.
The Cainta Disaster Coordinating Council said the body of Junriel Demario, 20, was found by fishermen at around 7 a.m.
Demario, a resident of San Andres, Cainta, was swept by strong waters while he was fishing at the Doña Calixta creek last Saturday, July 21.
He was one of the six people who went missing due to heavy rains brought by Ferdie.
Two other people, identified as Jonathan Sagodaquiel and Wilcor Rellera, were the two fatalities earlier named by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Five more people remain missing. They are:
Niel Calay, 6 (La Union)
Teodorico Caampued, 60 (Bolinao, Pangasinan)
Robinson Siso, 50 (Bolinao, Pangasinan)
Rogelio Canayon, 35 (Bolinao, Pangasinan)
Levi Caballero, 23 (Bolinao, Pangasinan)
NDRRMC said Calay was swept by the strong waters of Balballaya River in Barangay Lon-Oy, San Gabriel town.
The four Pangasinan residents, on the other hand, went missing after being swept by strong waves at the coast of Bolinao.
