PAGASA is monitoring an active low pressure area (ALPA) that was spotted 330 kilometers east of Tuguegarao as of 8 a.m.

The ALPA, combining with the effects of the southwest monsoon (hanging habagat), will “bring scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms to widespread rains and thunderstorms in Luzon and Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.”

Should the active LPA becomes a cyclone, it will be named “Ferdie.” It will be considered a tropical depression once it gains wind strength between 55 and 64 kilometers per hour. – report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
