MANILA, Philippines - Commission on Elections Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. maintained that today, July 18, is the last day for the general registration of voters in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
In a statement to ABS-CBN, Brillantes said: "No extension of registration in all ARMM provinces. Rumors on extension not true.”
similarly, Comelec Education and Information Director James Jimenez said: "There has been no extension of ARMM General Registration. Today is the last day."
As of Monday, an estimated 940,000 people had already registered as voters in the ARMM.
Registration began Monday last week and is set to end today.
This will be followed by the cleansing of the voters list to get rid off illegal registrants.
The poll body officials are in the ARMM now to oversee the registration.
