MANILA, Philippines – An offshore earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 struck Eastern Samar on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was recorded at 2:36 p.m. Its epicenter was located 77 kilometers northeast of Mercedes town.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 105 kilometers.
No intensity was felt in any part of the region. Likewise, no damage was reported.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are not expected from the earthquake.
