MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has filed an administrative case against the chief prosecutor of Camiguin for absolving a police officer who was allegedly caught using illegal drugs.

PDEA officials filed the case against Camiguin chief prosecutor Alma Pareno before the Regional State Prosecutors Office.

PDEA said Pareno dismissed the case against SPO2 Teotimo Vallar despite strong evidence against him.

They alleged that Vallar influenced Pareno’s decision because the suspect has relatives employed at the Camiguin Hall of Justice and Court of Appeals. -- Report from Arnell Ozaeta, dzMM
