MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang defended the Liberal Party's (LP) decision to accept Sarangani governor and former Lakas-Kampi President Miguel Dominguez.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said those who support the reform programs of President Aquino are welcome to join the party.
"Ang consideration, di ba maliwanag, naniniwala ba kayo sa reporma ng Pangulong Aquino? Naniniwala ba kayo sa kanyang poverty alleviation program? If you are willing to abide by the reform programs of the President, certainly you will be welcome to join the party," Lacierda said.
Dominguez supported the candidacy of Gilbert Teodoro, a cousin of President Aquino, in the 2010 presidential elections.
Dominguez served as Lakas-Kampi president while Teodoro served as the party chairman during the 2010 campaign.
