MANILA - Malacañang condemned the reported attack of “lawless attacks” on a convoy of rubber plantation workers in Basilan, killing at least six.
“Let us issue a very strong condemnation on the attack of innocent civilians,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said.
Valte said the attackers have not yet been identified and that the Philippine National Police is currently investigating the incident while the Armed Forces of the Philippines is providing support to secure the area.
“I will not comment on the identification of the lawless elements that were responsible for the attack. The investigation is ongoing. We will not make any comment… until such time that there is a definitive determination of the identity of the attackers or if they are identified with any group,” she said.

Meantime, asked about the status of a previous directive to crush the Abu Sayyaf Group, Valte said, “The directive stands. Operations are underway… Lumiit ‘yung mundo nila.”
