Bulacan gives highest recognition to Dolphy

MANILA, Philippines – The provincial government of Bulacan has passed an ordinance that gave Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon Sr. the highest recognition as a Bulakeño.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan recently passed Provincial Ordinance No. 225-T'12 to honor the King of Comedy’s contributions to the province and to the entertainment industry.

The resolution, proposed by board member Ramon Posadas and authored by Vice Governor Daniel Fernando and board member Michael Fermin, also extends the province's condolences to Dolphy’s family and friends.

Dolphy, whose mother Salud Vera was born in Wawa, Balagtas, Bulacan, was also honored with the “Gawad Dangal ng Lipi” in 1995 under the Performing Arts in Acting category in accordance with the Provincial Ordinance No. 386-T'95 of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

He passed away Tuesday night after years of battling Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was 83.

His remains lie at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City.
