Gunmen rob Western Union branch in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Three armed men stole P1 million from a Western Union Money Transfer branch in Barangay Calendola, San Pedro, Laguna Saturday morning, police said.

According to Police Officer 2 Samuel Arebanco, the Western Union branch had just opened at around 8:30 a.m. when the robbers raided the shop.

Arebanco said the armed men pointed guns at the people inside the shop, including the female teller.

Before escaping, one of the suspects even fired a gun.

Initial reports said the suspects did not use a getaway vehicle and only walked while escaping.

Authorities said they have a lead behind the perpetrators. – Report from Dennis Datu, DZMM
