MANILA, Philippines – The Sandiganbayan has ordered the suspension of Sara, Iloilo Mayor Neptali Salcedo and two of his employees over graft charges filed against them.

The suspension was handed down by Associate Justice Gregory Ong of the Sandiganbayan’s 4th division.

Salcedo and two others are facing charges in violation of the Anti-Graft And Corrupt Practices Act filed by 5th district Congressman Niel Tupas Jr. before the Office of the Ombudsman.

Under the complaint, Tupas alleged that the mayor misused P300 million funds for a farm-to-market road project.

Aside from the graft complaint, Salcedo and his two employees are also facing 30 counts of Malversation of Public Documents in relation to the town’s P2 million labor payroll. -- Report from Kenneth Ladigohon, ABS-CBN News Iloilo
