MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – Four people died and 10 others were injured after a truck plunged into a ravine in South Upi, Maguindanao on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Inspector Roel Villarin, chief of South Upi Police, said the truck plunged into a ravine in Barangay Kuya at around 4 p.m. after its brakes failed.
The injured passengers were rushed to hospital for treatment. Most of them suffered head injuries.
Villarin said the victims were on their way home to the nearby town of Lebak in Sultan Kudarat after attending a burial in Tacurong City when the accident occurred.
The truck driver, meanwhile, is now under police custody and is facing reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and physical injuries.
