MANILA, Philippines - Tornadoes have struck 3 towns in South Cotabato and Leyte province, authorities said Monday.
One of the twisters hit the Kablon National High School in Tupi, South Cotabato Friday.
The tornado swept through the area for 5 minutes, leaving a path of destruction.
Roofing materials were strewn all over the area and a portion of the school was destroyed.
There were no reported injuries but the tornado left students with fewer classrooms.
Some teachers were absent Monday fearing another tornado.
Students are calling on Department of Education to transfer their school to safer ground.
A tornado also hit the neighboring town of Polomolok.
It damaged 42 homes and several hectares of farmland.
In Carigara, Leyte, a tornado tore the roof off a wet market last Saturday and caused more than P1 million in damage. - report from Anne Santos, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN; ANC
