MANILA, Philippines – A 3-year-old boy was brought to the hospital on Thursday after he was attacked by a pet monkey owned by a neighbor in the town of Libmanan, Camarines Sur.
A witness said the boy was walking home when the monkey broke free from its leash and jumped on the boy’s head.
“Nakita ko na lang sinasabunutan siya. Kinakagat ang ulo niya,” said Everlina Vallespin.
Other neighbors ran to the boy’s aid but had a difficult time capturing the monkey.
The boy sustained wounds in his scalp.
His mother Cherelyn Autor expressed anger over the incident, saying it was not the first time that the monkey, owned by a certain Geraldine Flores, bit a child.
Flores said she is willing to turn over her pet to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) if necessary.
-- Report from Gerard Lorbes, ABS-CBN News Bicol
