Gov't, MILF agree to put up 5 monitoring posts

MANILA, Philippines – The government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) have agreed to put up Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Posts (JCMP) in 5 areas in Mindanao as part of the peace process.

The monitoring posts will be located in Datu Saudi, Maguindanao; Pikit, Cotabato; Munai, Lanao del Norte; Butig, Lanao del Sur; and Maasim, Saranggani.

The two parties are also considering putting up posts in Basilan and Sibugay.

The agreement was made during the 42nd meeting of the Coordinating Committees on the Cessation of Hostilities held in Davao City last Tuesday.

The next meeting between the two sides will be held in Cagayan de Oro in September.
