MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – A 7-year-old boy was abducted by unidentified armed men while he was on his way to school in Laguna Friday morning, police said.
Police said a red Nissan Sentra with plate number TBK 827 blocked the path of the school bus carrying the victim along a national highway in Barangay San Francisco at around 7:30 a.m.
According to the bus conductor Flash delos Reyes, 3 armed men alighted the vehicle and entered the bus.
“Humarang po sa amin ‘yung kotse. Tapos lumabas ‘yung isa na may armalite tapos lumabas din ‘yung dalawa. Tinutukan ‘yung driver tapos pinabubuksan sa bata ‘yung pinto, binuksan naman po,” he said.
Witnesses said the boy was forcibly taken by the suspects, forced him inside their get-away vehicle and fled towards San Pedro, Laguna.
Police believe the boy was the target of the abduction because he was the only taken by the suspects out of 14 students inside the bus.
Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, said the victim was a student of Montessori Children’s School in Woodside Village, Biñan City.
Cruz said the case has been turned over to the Anti-Kidnapping Task Group based in Camp Crame.
Authorities said the boy’s parents, who own a large business in Laguna, have yet to receive a ransom demand from the kidnappers.
The boy’s father was shocked over the incident, saying he does not have any enemies who may want to take it out on his son.
“Wala naman kaming inaaway eh,” he said. -- Reports from Arnell Ozaeta, ABS-CBN News Southern Tagalog; Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News
