ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - The Armed Forces of the Philippines Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) received reports that missing Jordanian journalist Baker Abdulla Atyani and his two Filipino crewmen are just roaming around Sulu province.

Atyani, the regional bureau chief of the Dubai-based Al-Arabiya news channel, and his Filipino crew - cameraman Ramelito Vela, 39, and audio operator Rolando Letrero, 22 - were officially declared missing last June 12.

In an ambush interview, AFP Wesmincom Commander Lt. General Noel Coballes said reports reaching their headquarters indicate that Atyani has not been kidnapped nor held by bandits.

"Ang aming balita na umiiikot sya sa mga probable areas nung mga gusto nyang kausapin," Coballes said.

He said the foreign journalist may just be in the process of trying to accomplish his interview with the leader of the Abu Sayyaf Group.
