MANILA, Philippines – A city hall employee, who is reportedly homosexual, was stabbed 21 times inside his home in Nula-Tula, Tacloban City Wednesday night, police said.
Police said the victim, Diego Balintong Jr., was stabbed during a drinking session with 3 others.
Balintong’s relatives, who lived next door, immediately notified police after they heard him cry for help.
He survived the attack.
The incident shocked relatives of Balintong, who they described as a friendly person.
Two of the suspects, Clyde Paclibare and another minor, were arrested by police and will face charges of frustrated murder.
Another suspect, Jonas Mendoza, is still at large.
Police believe that Mendoza was the one who stabbed Balintong.
Balintong is recovering from his stab wounds at a hospital.
The Leyte Gay Association has condemned the incident.
