8 fishermen rescued in Sarangani Bay

MANILA, Philippines – Eight fishermen who were reported missing were rescued by the Philippine Navy off the coast of Sarangani Wednesday night.

Seven of the fishermen were identified as Jerry Panggilawan, Rogelio Cardido, Nenel Lebres, Danilo Romero, Isidro Tapan, Titing Restauro and Rodrigo Villarosa.

They were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and received medical treatment before returning to their homes in Maasim, Sarangani.

Three fishing vessels were also recovered by authorities.

The search and rescue operation for more than 70 fishermen are still ongoing.
