MANILA - The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) denounced the brutal killing of a member in Nueva Ecija last Saturday.
"The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) denounces the brutal killing of our colleague, Dr. Caroline Talens, an obstetrician-gynecologist from Bulacan. We deeply regret the inhumane treatment she suffered from the perpetrators of this barbaric act,” the group of doctors said.
The group urged the law enforcement agencies to continue pursuing the case until the very end. “We challenge them to prove to the people that investigations are not started without eyeing its completion and the integrity of the case upheld.”
The group also asked for witnesses to come out.
“We appeal for the public’s cooperation in providing information that will lead to identification of the killers. The death of our dear Dr. Talens should be brought to the bar of justice. The people’s cooperation is very important in resolving heinous crimes like this. Your cooperation means a lot to her family she has left behind,” the PMA said.
Talens’ body was found floating on an irrigation canal in the Science City of Muñoz in Nueva Ecija last Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to the victim's family, they were still able to talk to her on Friday.
The victim was found wearing only her underwear.
Authorities said she was possibly hit on the head.
They are also looking at the possibility of rape.
