CEBU CITY – Two people were arrested after allegedly being caught in possession of P8 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in this city on Monday.

The suspects, mother and daughter Editha and Maricris Paul, were arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents while they were holding a transaction with a freight forwarder firm.

PDEA agents said they received a tip weeks ago that the two were about to receive a drug shipment from a forwarding firm.

The illegal drugs were found hidden behind the soles of sandals. The shipment allegedly originated from a certain mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

In Bacolod City, a similar operation on Monday resulted in the seizure of about P7 million worth of shabu.

The illegal drugs were also found hidden behind the soles of several sandals.

Authorities have yet to establish the connection between the two drug busts.
