MANILA – A potential cyclone entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Friday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

PAGASA said a low pressure area was spotted 970 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora at 4 a.m. today.

PAGASA weather forecaster Jun Galang said the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

Galang said the LPA may dissipate this weekend after making landfall in the Philippines.

He said the LPA was not enhancing the southwest monsoon (habagat) that much.

PAGASA said Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga and Davao regions will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains or thunderstorms.
