CEBU CITY -- Twelve houses were razed in Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City, Cebu on Sunday.
No injuries nor casualties were reported but damage from the blaze was estimated at P200,000, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.
According to Mandaue fire investigator FO1 Julius Lloa, 10 houses were totally burned, while two houses were partially damaged.
He said they received a call from one of the residents informing them that the house owned by a certain Rose Marie Maloloy-on was on fire.
Lloa said the blaze started at 1:08 p.m. and was put out after almost 45 minutes.
Residents blamed the BFP for the late response.
Some residents threw stones at the windows of the burning houses in order for the BFP to penetrate the interior part of the house.
Over 20 families were displaced and are temporarily sheltered in the barangay gymnasium.
Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes promised to provide food packs and tents for the residents for three days.
