MANILA - A man who went amok in San Mateo, Rizal on Friday was shot dead by responding policemen before dawn on Saturday.
Police said the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Larry Lorena, started indiscriminately firing shots using his 9-mm pistol in AFP Housing, Barangay Silangan at around 4 p.m. on Friday.
When police responded to the area, Lorena then locked himself inside his house, together with his 10-year-old daughter.
It was only at around 4 a.m. on Saturday when the suspect went out of his house.
However, he still refused to surrender himself to authorities and instead fired shots at the police, who immediately fired back.
Lorena was rushed to St. Vincent Hospital but succumbed to his wounds.
His daughter was unharmed, police said.
