21 north Mindanao colleges, universities to hike fees

CAGAYAN de Oro City, Philippines - The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in Northern Mindanao has approved the application for tuition fee increases of 21 private and public tertiary schools.

"They followed the guidelines and secured all papers needed," said CHED regional director Dr. Zenaida Gersana.

Gersana said that majority of the schools cited facility upgrade and salary increases for teachers as the reason for the tuition hike.

She said the tuition increases range from 3.92% to 15.74%.

The 21 schools are:

1. Fatima College in Camiguin province
2. Pilgrim College in Cagayan de Oro City
3. ST. Peter's College in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte
4. Southern Capitol College in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental
5. Misamis University in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental
6. Mountain Views College in Valencia City, Bukidnon
7. San Agustin Institute in Valencia City, Bukidnon
8. Iligan Capitol College in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte
9. Lyceum in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte
10. Lourdes College in Cagayan de Oro City
11. Capitol University in Cagayan de Oro City
12. North Central Mindanao College in Lanao del Norte
13. La Salle University in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental
14. Christ The King in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental
15. Cagayan de Oro College in Cagayan de Oro City
16. San Isidro College in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon
17. Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City
18. Mindanao Sanitarium College in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte
19. Philippine College Foundation in Valencia City, Bukidnon
