MANILA - Six survey inspectors of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) were abducted by armed men in Barangay New Leyte in Maco, Compostela Valley on Friday, the military said.
According to Eastern Mindanao Command spokesperson Captain Alberto Cabrera, the DENR employees were conducting a validation and survey on the government's national greening program in the area when they were taken by still unidentified armed men at around 2 p.m.
Cabrera said the families of the victims have requested the military not to disclose their names.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction so far, the military said. -- Report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
