COTABATO CITY -- Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has visited Cotabato City to show support for the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
Duterte's visit was supposed to focus on federalism. He, however decided not to dwell on the issue, and expressed his support to the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) instead.
"I am here to show my support to BBL. Kaisa ako ng mga taga Central Mindanao in their aspirations to achieve long lasting peace," Duterte said.
"Hintayin muna natin ang kalalabasan ng BBL bago ako magsalita tungkol sa federalism," he added.
Duterte said in order for the Bangsamoro government to succeed, Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founder Nur Misuari must be involved and consulted in the Mindanao peace process.
"Para wala nang gulo, irespeto natin ang original na agreement na pinirmahan ni Misuari sa Tripoli, Libya," Duterte said.
Duterte also reiterated he will not be running for president in 2016.
He also belied accusations on his alleged involvement in extrajudicial killings in Davao City.
