Elderly woman killed as van plunges into ravine in CamSur

MANILA, Philippines – An elderly woman died and six Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) employees were injured after their van fell off a ravine in Camarines Sur on Thursday afternoon.

The lone fatality was Rosalinda Matias, 62.

Police said the van fell off a 30-foot cliff beside Andaya Highway in Barangay Taisan at around 3 p.m.

The van’s driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while he was steering it at a curved portion of the highway.

The injured victims, employees of BIR-Caloocan, were identified as:

  • Atty. Ramos Sabinorio
  • Babylyn Sabinorio
  • Susana Munleon
  • Trisha Campestante
  • Maria Victoria Serrano
  • Eddie Nomus
