3 killed as car hits tree in Cotabato

MANILA, Philippines - Three people were killed in a vehicular accident in Makilala, North Cotabato last Tuesday, May 22.

The fatalities were identified as Edrico Genota, Charmaine Genota and a 13-year-old girl named Marianne. They died while being treated at a hospital.

Authorities said Isuzu D-Max driver Jake Genota, 33, was travelling along a curved portion of a national highway in Sitio Patulangon in Barangay Malasila at around 7:30 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed it into a tree.

A resident said he saw the vehicle travelling fast before hitting the tree.

Three others were injured in the crash. They remain confined at a hospital in Kidapawan City.

Authorities said the victims were on their way home from Davao City when the accident occurred.

They warned motorists to take extra caution when driving along the said road, where many accidents had occurred.
